A Meditation for Healing

Updated: May 27, 2021

For many years I have been practicing metta, or loving kindness, meditation, sending positive energy and kindness to myself and to others. The words and feelings include people close to me, people or groups I don’t know, and even people I find difficult to love.

There are many forms of this meditation, and over the years I have used different versions. But recently I decided to write my own version, reflecting what I most deeply desire for all to experience and what might lead people collectively to a loving world.

Here is the meditation I wrote and the blessings I send.

May I be at peace.

May I know I am loved and matter in the world.

May I have a community where I am safe and know I belong.

May my heart be open to see that all life is a gift, including hardships.

May all my wounds be healed and transformed into compassion.

May all my unmet needs be met.

May just the right people and circumstances come into my life as blessings.

May I have all the strength and grace I need to get through challenges and suffering.

May I be aware of my interconnectedness with others, all species, and the Earth. May I make choices that serve the well-being of all life.

May everyone be at peace.

May they know they are loved and matter in the world.

May they have a community where they are safe and know they belong.

May their hearts be open to see that all life is a gift, including hardships.

May all their wounds be healed and transformed into compassion.

May all their unmet needs be met.

May just the right people and circumstances come into their lives as blessings.

May they have all the strength and grace they need to get through challenges and suffering.

May everyone be aware of their interconnectedness with others, all species, and the Earth. May they make choices that serve the well being of all life.

This is the path to healing our hearts, our lives, and the world.
